Definition of My Life free essay sample

This is the definition of my life: the world around me is continuous, barely any time to breathe, nonstop activities, hard enough to find time to rest. I love my life and the way it is run, even though it is hectic and a nonstop train leading to where? My future. I attend school activities, am athletic, volunteer at church, and have a job. I have done my best with balancing work, swimming, and friends. It’s tough to do, but I do my best at it. I am not the most outgoing person, but I am able to adapt to new environments. In preschool I had a best friend forever, a boyfriend and a class of friends that I barely knew. Just like every other kid, we were all enemies one day and friends the next. In first grade I moved to a new school and things weren’t the same. We will write a custom essay sample on Definition of My Life or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I no longer had the best friend I had known for three years, but a new group of kids that already had their own group. I found out the hard way that it’s not easy making friend when you don’t come to them first. With this new lesson learned, I made a new best friend that felt like she never really fit in. We had our own group and soon the numbers grew. Eventually everyone became a part of the new group and the whole grade was friends. Things became difficult for me again in fifth grade when my friends were all hanging out on Friday nights. I would be at swim practice and then have to go to bed early that night for a swim meet the next morning. With my intensity in swimming growing it made it difficult to hold onto my school friends when they were making new best friends and I was left out. I made many new friends in swimming, but because of the time consuming and intensity of sport, many kids my age did not want to put forth all the time and effort. One friend after an other quit. I was not a very good swimmer, so I was with all the new kids that would soon quit. I started to age up into different groups, having to work harder than ever, and focused on the sport more than friends. There were three girls that were almost always in the same group as me, but I never really noticed them. We would occasionally talk but never hang out. I learned to focus on the sport more than the friend aspect of swimming, and found myself getting best times at all the meets I swam at. I became great friends with the three girls, and did not lose focus on the sport. I have the ability to focus on one thing and let others fall into place. Without my hard work in swimming and friends cheering me on I would not have been able to place second over all in my age group at the state championship meet this past summer. Although my life is nonstop I love it and right now I would do nothing to change that.

65279Isolation as a Cause of Mental Illness Essay Example For Students

65279Isolation as a Cause of Mental Illness Essay Isolation as a Cause of Mental Illness Mental illness is a serious problem. Mental illness is a term used for a group of disorders causing severe disturbances in thinking, feeling and relating. The result is a diminished capacity for coping with ordinary demands of life. Mental illnesses can affect persons of any age, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. In the short stories The Bet, Pauls Case, Silent Snow, Secret Snow the authors use isolation as a cause for mental illness. Not only is the lawyers hate for society caused by isolation in The Bet but it is also the cause of Pauls suicide in Pauls Case. Finally in Silent Snow, Secret Snow Pauls schizophrenia is the product of his personal isolation. The authors of these short stories succeed in portraying isolation as a cause for mental illness. In The Bet by Anton Chekhov the lawyers isolation causes his hate for society. Over the course of the lawyers fifteen year sentence he goes through many different phases. He studies a large amount of literature over the years. This is the only way he can connect with society without violating the terms of the bet. The lawyers confinement is different from the usual prison. Normally an inmate would be able to interact with other people, but while serving his sentence under the banker, but he did not have this luxury. This extreme removal from all human interaction is the modern equivalent of solitary confinement. This confinement made a strong impression in the first few years of his sentence, where he experiences loneliness, boredom and bouts of severe depression. A perfect example of this is when the banker explains what happenedduring the years of the lawyers imprisonment, . ..the lawyer, as far as it was possible to judge from his short notes, suffered terribly from loneliness and boredom. (Chekhov, 171). The effects of lawyers ordeal were evident in the note that the banker discovered the day before his release. The note reflected the amount of wisdom the lawyer had acquired as well as the effects the years of isolation had on him mentally. The isolation had a disturbing influence on the lawyers state of mind and the note revealed this bitter hatred for society. The lawyers bitter hatred for society is shown when he writes, And I despise your books, despise all worldly blessings and wisdom yet will death wipe you from the face of the earth like mice underground; (Chekhov, 175). To add to the effects the fifteen year term had upon the lawyer mentally the isolation also took a severe toll physically on the lawyer. The years of prison life had aged the lawyer significantly and In Pauls Case by Willa Cather Pauls isolation is the cause for his suicide. Pauls separation from society first becomes apparent at school where he shows that he has a strained relationship with his teachers. Later on at school Pauls isolation becomes even more distinct after looking at his lack of acceptance among his peers. This absence of friends may also be attributed to Pauls interest in art, opera and theater. Many of these characteristics are perceived as feminine, so it is quite conceivable that his peers might have thought Paul to be a homosexual. Pauls isolation goes even further while indulging himself in one of his many interests. Many references are made in regards to the extent that Paul becomes consumed when in the presence of art, opera or theater. An example of this is when Cather writes, When the symphony began Paul sank into one of the rear seats with a long sigh of relief, and lost himself as he had done before the Rico the instruments seemed to free some hilarious spirit within him; (Cather, 150). Style Essays - Beholder, , Term Papers, Research Papers

Style I am choosing to write about paragraph two, page 95 of the Hebidge article. I agree that taste does distinguish those who make the distinctions. However, I feel that the whole concept of analyzing what makes a person stylish or not is foolish. I feel that attempting to put a definitive issue on what is stylish is defeating the purpose of having style. Style does not define you, attitude does. Style is a reflection of an individual and if people are judging you and your personality solely on material things than I feel that this is where America's shallow mentality derives. I am not saying that style is unnecessary because it is natural for an individual to want the best of everything, but that is not always possible. I have a motto that relates perfectly to this topic. A lot of people have a champagne mentality, but only have a beer pocketbook. This means that a person may desire in their heart to have the best of everything, but not the means of attaining it. Also, the idea of forming distinctions of who is and isn't stylish is at a loss because no matter what a person does there is no way to achieve a unanimous consensus on style anyway. What is beautiful and stylish in the eye of a conservative is hideous in the eye of the nonconformist. In conclusion the issue of style is one that belongs in casual conversation, but cannot be classified because the beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and each beholder has their own concept of beauty. How to Give a Sample Answer to Essay Question Massachusetts J

How to Give a Sample Answer to Essay Question Massachusetts JSome sample answer to essay question Massachusetts J were posted in the Harvard University Library. You may wonder what you have to do to give such answers as a college student? You don't have to be a scholar to quote books or articles from books and articles you have read. You may say 'I have read it'I have read it somewhere.' These are terms of art and aren't meant to sound too academic. Just say that you have read it.Well, some say that is too limiting and doesn't allow for the student to be creative enough. Of course, most students will tell you that they really don't like that kind of thing. The most important part of all is that you know that when you say something, you are truly saying it. If you are doing it for credit, then don't say it and if you're doing it for class, then say it as if you're in a seminar and the professor is there to give a lecture. Not just your friend. How to give a sample answer to essay questi on Massachusetts J is not hard to figure out. That's the same as if you are writing about your experiences in class and the professor was there to give a lecture. They can be intimidating, but they're there to help the student. And over time, you'll find the best way to answer every question you encounter.

The Congress of Vienna Essay

The Congress of Vienna Essay The Congress of Vienna Essay The Peace Settlement of the Congress of Vienna The Congress of Vienna, which consisted of the five great European powers Britain, France, Austria, Russia, and Prussia, met from September of 1814 until June of 1815. The major people, led primarily by Klemens von Metternich, who took part in the Congress were Castlereagh, Maurice de Talleyrand, Fredrick William III, and Alexander I. The strategy of this anti-nationalistic congress was to restore social and political order in Europe through establishing a balance of power by keeping France from pursuing further aggression and to settle growing disputes. The Congress wanted to restore harmony to Europe and give power to conservatism, opposed to the growing liberal ideas. The extreme conservatism of the Congress, especially Metternich’s program, would lead the Congress of Vienna to certain problems. When the Congress of Vienna met, they met to achieve three goals: to create a balance of power, to contain France by surrounding it with stronger countries, and to establish legiti macy. They agreed to redraw the map of Europe to establish an equilibrium of powers, preventing a country from creating an uprising. They established buffer states between the great powers to prevent France from expansion. To create harmony within Europe, Metternich created the Principle of Legitimacy that stated that the old dynasties who had been driven from the throne should be restored to power. These old dynasties were the Bourbons to France, the House of Orange to Holland, and the Habsburgs to Northern Italy. The Quadruple Alliance agreed to defend the Principle of Legitimacy as the status quo of the Congress against any threat to the balance of power. The socials views of the Congress of Vienna were centered around conservatism and stopping the ideas of nationalism and liberalism from spreading, especially to the Americas. The Congress set up a stong aristocracy to accompany the restoration of the old dynasties. Within the Congress, a key alliance was set up between Francis I of Austria, King Fredrick William III, and the Czar Alexander I called the Holy Alliance. In this, the three pledged to base their relations with other nations on Christian principle to combat the forces of revolution. The Concert of Europe was a

Biological Oxygen Transport - Essay Example The chemical reactions thus require enzymes to speed up their reaction. Most of the enzymes require metallic entities to help them function to their full capacity. Metallic ions like Zinc and Magnesium provide biological enzymes with good acid capability. Thus, the enzymes that are used for acid base reactions use magnesium and zinc at their active centers. In addition, inorganic compounds like sodium and potassium are required by living organism to create a potential difference across cell membrane. Unequal distribution of sodium and potassium ions across cell membrane help initiate an action potential. Hemoglobin is an iron containing oxygen transport metalloprotein that is found in the red blood cells of vertebras (Anthea, Human Biology And Health). Its structure exhibits characteristics of both quaternary and tertiary structures of protein (Kessel, 122 Print). Most amino acids present in the hemoglobin are alpha helices and are joined together by non-helical structures. Hydrogen bonds present in the helical structure stabilize the helical units and give hemoglobin molecule its specific shape (Hemoglobin Tutorial, University of Massachusetts Amherst) The hemoglobin molecule has a protein part globin to which a small iron containing group heme. The heme consists of a charged iron ion that is contained in a heterocyclic ring. This heterocyclic ring is known as porphyrin and it consists of four pyrrole molecules linked together with iron bound in the center (Hemoglobin-School of Chemistry, Bristol University, ). The iron ion is the oxygen-binding site of hemoglobin. The iron ion coo rdinates with four molecules of nitrogen. The iron ion is strongly bound to the protein via imidazole ring of the F8 histidine residue below porphyrin ring.
